Description of Vitamin A?

Vitamin A is a fat-soluable vitamin that's responsible for the maintenenance of healthy skin, hair and mucous membranes as well as vision. Vitamin A also plays a part in bone growth, tooth development and reproduction.

Beta-Carotene is NOT Vitamin A

Vitamin A is only found in animals. Plants produce beta-carotene, which is a pre-cursor to Vitamin A that is often marketed as being Vitamin A. The body has to convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A. The problem with this is that all of our bodies are different and do not convert beta-carotene into vitamin A at the same rate and therefore the recommended daily levels of beta-carotene are misleading. True Vitamin A can be purchased at your local health food store.
